Johnson’s deputy mayor resigns

July 4, 2008

First,  it was senior advisor James McGrath who quit due to racist comments and now Ray Lewis, deputy mayor to Boris Johnson has resigned this evening. And Johnson has only been mayor for 2 months yet there’s an acceleration of cronyism and duplicity.

As reported in today’s Guardian there will be an inquiry into the allegations of “financial irregularities and inappropriate behaviour” against Lewis.

Liberal Conspiracy  has a list of the endless gaffes and controversies committed by Johnson. And it’s early days as well…some of these rightwingers will have severe difficulty keeping their fingers out of the till.

  1. Remarkably early in Johnson’s reign for this sort of thing to be happening, don’t you think?

I wonder if the warm cuddly happy feeling that the Tories exhibited over the past few months may be just a little cooler now….

  2. Indeed WbS! What will it be like in 4 yrs time….. Dread to think.

And yeah, a little cooler too.

  3. Still, not sufficiently cool to dent Conservative polling numbers. Or at least not yet.

  4. The Tories are on a roll. They may get dented but not significantly at the moment.
