Remember singing along to this at the end of Amy Heckerling’s Clueless (I have a big spot for that 90s movie… Heckerling she of Fast Times at Ridgemont High which later spawned many a John Hughes teenage 1980s angst film…But Heckerling, in my opinion, was better).
Ah yes, Tenderness by General Public (The Beat split up and Ranking Roger and Dave Wakeling formed General Public). Again, this song was played at many yoofy leftie parties I frequented between 1986-1988 in Birmingham. And being from the West Mids….late 1970s-early 1980s… dominated by 2-tone ska such as The Beat and The Specials.
I saw Ranking Roger play live at the Moseley Dance Hall circa Xmas 1987. Though people kept shouting, ‘Sing Mirror in the Bathroom’…etc. When I think he wanted to concentrate on his later music.
Anyway..another one of my stream of consciousness rambles and recollections.

It’s sad to think of the past. Life in the present can seem so empty. It’s like you left all your energy behind.
Blimey! The Moseley Dance Hall!
Claude, them were the days, they were…..
