Shaping the cuts of the future

The fanfare and pomp that heralded this green paper Shaping the Future of Care Together bigged up by Health Secretary, Andy Burnham, is nothing more than a cost cutting exercise disguised and couched in the usual loose carin’ sharin’ fake language that NL loves to spout.

.. we should create a new and better care and support system, looking at how we can make the best use of public money to provide a joined-up, consistent and fair care and support system …

In developing the new system, we think that there is a case for drawing some funding streams together to enable us to deliver the new and better care and support system we want to create. We think we should consider integrating some elements of disability benefits, for example Attendance Allowance, to create a new offer for individuals with care needs.
