I don’t know what is worse, Gordon Brown’s speech or Sarah Brown’s sickly sugar-coated vomit inducing introduction. It is a repeat of last year’s Obama-esque introduction. Do the movers and spinners believe that will increase Labour’s measly poll ratings? Oh dear! Well, at least Brown as one fan…. Tammy Wynette’s opus, ‘Stand by your Man’ is on a loop inside my head.
And Brown’s speech…or should that be the swan song? Nothing earth shatteringly progressive about it, empty of policies/ideas, shallow, right-wing populist, with a couple of sops thrown in (if you can even call it that) ….NL morally, financially and politically bankrupt. That speech won’t change the fortunes of NL.
Kaput!

Could not face either Mr nor Mrs B myself…work seemed much more pleasant a prospect. Prison for getting pregnant when you are 16-17!!!Sorry that one says it all.
Mr C and Mr O high-fiving away I imagine:-(
Do you know any more about this “Provide a network of supervised homes for 16- and 17-year-old parents”? From what Brown said, all 16 and 17 year old parents in receipt of benefit will be locked up – bet that doesn’t include the fathers!!!
I thought Brown’s speech was incredibly poor, like the swansong of someone who wants to pretend the last 12 years never happened.
Have bored on (at some length) on my blog about one aspect – the ‘crackdown’ on antisocial behaviour that isn’t going to happen but that still really annoys me.
Read your post Kevin, good as well, thought it interesting and made me ponder about things. Wrote a draft of that specific issue myself…..before I read yours. Mine was more of a general look at NL’s interpretation of ‘anti-social’ behaviour.
