Culture splurge

Well, I went on a culture splurge today. First, I visited the Pump House Gallery to see Shake It: An Instant History of the Polaroid. And second, then onto the Tate Modern to see Pop Life: Art in a Material World.

Knackered after scampering around London, will write reviews later. But I will leave you with a pic I took on my mobile of  the effects of the Warhol section of the exhibition which was lit by ultraviolet light.

Very trippy and disorientating.

And to finish off my culture binge I am off to see Zombieland tomorrow.

Oh, and below is a view across the Thames I took on my mobile.

Polly Toynbee: hack for hire

This caught my eye over at Though Cowards Flinch about Polly Toynbee, Guardianista and now also writing for Serco’s in-house magazine.

Hack for Hire

These are her pearly sell-out gems about the wonders of privatisation and contracting out:

There is no doubt that putting some services out to tender has vastly improved certain standards over the years, broken the power of vested interests and brought in competition that has sharpened up results.

This comment ‘broken the power of vested interests’ is an attack on the public sector trade unions. She, like the rest of the establishment, are keen to see the unions smashed.

Coupled with the fact that Polly Toynbee is writing for Serco.

That sums her up for me.

Oh, and talking of reactionary ratbags..this lot have been exposed.
