That is really sad… the actor Brittany Murphy has died at 32.
She was wonderful in one of my favourite films of the 1990s… Amy Heckerling’s superb Clueless.
She voiced Luanne in the cartoon ‘King of the Hill’. Also, she starred in ‘Girl, Interrupted’, ‘Sin City’ and ‘Cherry Falls’. I recently watched Drew Barrymore in ‘Riding in Cars with Boys’ which also starred Brittany Murphy. She was someone to watch and would have been interesting to see how she evolved and changed over time.
RIP Brittany

king of the hill is one of my favourite programmes ever, very sad when someone so young dies
V sad. Dead of a heart attack. And at my age too.
Indeed Carl and AVPS, I liked King of the Hill. And so young at 32, I don’t want to make assumptions but I did wonder whether she had an eating distress. She looked wonderful in Clueless but in later films she looked ill. Again, it is only an assumption but also why is Hollywood obsessed with weight and women expected to be unbelievably thin along with the pressure to achieve this.
It’s very very sad. I loved her in KOTH, that brilliant hiccuppy voice… and a pleasure to watch too. She totally stole Clueless.
She did steal Clueless. I really love that film.
What Splinty said.
your damn right about the weight thing, its the sickest element that consumes all of society, and being tackled byno one of any political clout
Indeed Carl, it is part and parcel of the pressures put on women specifically. It is hideous and it really exposes the appalling contradictions and pressures put upon women, to be desirable, accepted and so on. It catches people in a double bind.
Very surprised about this.
I haven’t seen many of her films, (four or five), but in nothing I’ve seen does she turn in a bad performance. Very versatile actress who could even redeem a bad movie (thinking particularly of 8 Mile here).
