Distraction from local elections and AV
May 6, 2011Biggest losers in town

This is Jake the dog. I prefer to look at him than a photo of Nick Clegg. If there was a pic of Cleggy boo-hooing into his Kleenex saying "woe is me" I may have put it up as there wasn't other than pix of the smug loser trying to look in charge then Jake it is
Ahhhh the sweet revenge of the electorate is best served a year later …..
Maybe in three or four years time, people will look back and say they were a little bit harsh to the Liberal Democrats. (Paul Scriven, the Liberal Democrat leader of Sheffield council)
Oh Dear! I think not…..
This is the level of the LibDem crisis, it wouldn’t have surprised me if a donkey had stood against a LibDem and won a landslide victory probably because people had more faith in the donkey than the party of Nick Clegg. Personally, I will champion Larry the Cat for Deputy Prime Minister as when he promises to catch a rodent (and there a fair few lurking around…so much choice Larry) he does. Fair and ‘onest that moggy.
To the many families, in those parts of the country especially, there are some very strong memories of what life was like under the Thatcherism of the 1980s, and that’s what they fear they are returning to. We need to get up, dust ourselves down and move on. (Nick Clegg)
Maybe people that’s precisely what they think is happening with these austerity cuts. And how stupid of Clegg to say “we need to move on”… Yes, that’s just what Clegg wants for us to all develop collective amnesia through the bad old sad old days of Thatcherism.
What Clegg and his fellow yellow Tories have to grasp is that they go themselves into the mire by becoming part of the Bullingdon Boys Club and importantly, reneging on their promises. The reason last night was an almighty catastrophe for the LibDems is that they are lying two-faced yellow Tories who fibbed their way into a coalition hence why people more likely pummelled them than the Tories. Tories ….well, they’re the Tories… they say what they mean and mean what they say…shaft the working class and the public sector not mealy-mouthed windbags who claim to be an alternative (though that could also describe Labour at the moment). The reason Labour did well is due to the anti-LibDem vote not because Mister Ed is speaking sense. Just think what he could achieve if he actually put forward a genuine alternative as opposed to reacting to what’s happening. Tories vote stood up and what this election exposed what class politics people voting for the party that represents their class except that LibDems got split.
Cameron is doing well precisely because he opposed AV. Why the hell majority of Labour backed this pro-LibDem (under AV you’d never get rid of the Clegg… he’ll haunt you for 5 long years) proposal is beyond me other than maybe in future Labour wants a coalition with the yellow Tories. Big mistake.
Well, I am glad AV got trashed as it wasn’t a positive alternative. If you want genuine parliamentary reform get rid of the House of Lords and replace it with an elected second chamber. Secondly, we need a maximum of 4 year parliamentary terms as this fifth year is undemocratic because unpopular governments hang on.
If Labour wants to make real inroads and not jumping on the anti-LibDem vote is that they need to build a mass movement and make the party more inclusive as opposed to remote which what it became under NL, courtier politics and spin.
